Benefits of Private School

People choose private schools for a variety of reasons.  Some desire a faith based education and others found that public school just isn't meeting the needs of their child.  While many students and parents would not accept anything but a public school education there is little doubt that it is not for everyone. That is where Dallas Area Education Guide can help!

Last year, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) released its annual report to Congress on the condition of education. The report included a special analysis on private schools titled Private Schools: A Brief Portrait.  Many Americans turn to private schools to receive the following benefits:

  • Size:  Private schools tend to be smaller than their pubic counterpart.  Not only is the student/teacher ration better, the student/counselor ratio is also improved.  This is particularly important for seniors making college decisions.
  • Structure and discipline:  While public schools are charged with the education of ALL students, private schools may turn away students who disrupt the education process for those around them.
  • Focus:  Private schools may choose to focus on certain areas such as the arts, allowing children to further develop particular talents.
  • Challenge:  Private school graduates are more likely than their peers from public schools to have completed advanced level courses in three academic subject areas.
  • Achievement:  Private school students generally perform higher than their public school counterparts on standardized achievement tests.
  • Teachers: Private school teachers are more likely than public school teachers to report being satisfied with teaching at their school.

Note:  Some of the above listed benefits come directly from the private school piece.
